January 2018 IAT Topics

view this post on Zulip Joginder Madra (Dec 08 2017 at 21:08):

we're wading through potential agenda items for the January event. We will retain our usual format: exchange, discussion topics, Ask the ONC, etc. Are there specific discussion topics or exchange scenarios you would like to see?

view this post on Zulip George Dixon (Jan 04 2018 at 12:59):

I have not previously attended an implementation-a-thon. A few questions.
Location- Will there be internet access (e.g. connecting to hosted services)? Is there any recommended hardware (e.g. cables, power strips)?
Content- Are there prescribed patients that should be configured before arrival? Is there prescribed patient content that needs to be configured?
How are documents shared?

view this post on Zulip Dave Hamill (Jan 04 2018 at 15:44):

George,
First, welcome aboard. Glad you've posted these questions on Zulip.

Regarding the location's internet access, etc. Yes, there will be internet access and power strips in the class room. When I seek out locations, I indicate that we need the following:

Room Type: Classroom layout with outlets and power strips for attendees to plug in their laptops
Equipment Needed: Wireless Internet, projector/screen, outlets for laptops
Wifi Requirements: Fairly simple -- General internet access which allows access to “Dropbox” and transmission of simple text files; Participants can access email hosted on Exchange servers, Participants can use VPN to access machines at their office

view this post on Zulip Dave Hamill (Jan 04 2018 at 15:44):

Regarding your content/configuration questions....I'll defer to Jean or Joginder (the IAT speakers) to address anything in more detail. They will be sending out scenarios in the coming week or so along with a little homework so that you can get the data situated and hit the ground running when we are at the IAT.

Scenarios used in past IATs can be viewed on the HL7 Wiki at:
http://wiki.hl7.org/index.php?title=C-CDA:_Enhancing_Implementation_(ONC_Grant_Project)

view this post on Zulip Dave Hamill (Jan 04 2018 at 15:44):

How are documents shared?
In the past, Dropbox has been used. Jean or Joginder can weigh in here if we're going to use a different method.

In the coming weeks, you'll start receiving a lot more information to prep for the IAT. I always send out a 'helpful hints' email containing general information, and then I'll be forwarding informaton on behalf of Jean and Joginder, simply so you are getting info from a sole source.

Always feel free to post questions to the Zulip chat. I'm on Zulip most of the day and Jean and Joginder monitor it as well.

Thank you for the detailed response. Any content needs specific to this testing earlier information is better, limited resources etc.

Hi @George Dixon . We are in the midst of finalizing the agenda and will be sending out information re: homework scenarios, discussion topics etc. towards the end of this week. At that point, we will also create an Confluence (wiki) page for the IAT that will serve as the event's information hub.

As we prepare the agenda for the upcoming IAT, we are asking participants if there are topics that they feel should be considered for inclusion - either as discussion topics or scenarios to test. If there is something you would like us to consider for inclusion, please send us a note and we will do our best to accommodate.

To date, we've received requests to include the following:

• Clinical Notes scenario/discussion
• Procedure Note
• Progress Note
• CCD vs. Discharge Summary vs. Progress note scenario
• Discharge Note in a Discharge summary Document
• Discharge Note in a CCD that is a 6 month summary.
• Care Plan scenario (particularly General Care Plans and Specialty Care Plans)
• Medication administered vs. historical vs. dispensed vs. med list
• VSAC (from the perspective of updates made in last 4 weeks to bring everyone up to date)
• History and Physical Note
• Ask the ONC discussion
• Discussion around the C-CDA scorecard and Rubric
• Implementer feedback about the use of the Mental Status and Functional Status sections and the associated entries

Pregnancy Observation
Pregnancy observation is an assertion in C-CDA 2.1. eICR requires the ability to negate a pregnancy (over a period of time). On receiving a C-CDA document, are vendors expecting negated pregnancy in the pregnancy observation template?

@Yash Panchal @Jean Duteau @Joginder Madra Yash, I was forwarded the questions that you raised:

1) About the event, Is there only introductory discussions among all or there would be live testing of interoperability use cases?

Answer:
The IAT will be both discussions as well as exchanging of data. The data stems from scenarios that are created and distributed a week prior to the event.

2) Considering that we will be exporting CCD files, What is expected to be destinations and raw data?
Answer:
We'll have attendees that represent both sending organizations and receiving organizaztions.

The VIAT faciliators, Jean Duteau and Joginder Madra are on this Zulip chat as well so they can expand on the answers as well.

C-CDA IAT Zulipers..

don’t forget about the upcoming C-CDA IAT in Washington DC on Aug 9-10.

Planned scenarios/discussions are:
- Encounter summary (i.e. discharge summary or progress note) vs patient summary (CCD)
- CDA -> FHIR Mapping (focusing on US data elements)*
- Care Plan**
- Ask the ONC

*We are also looking to demonstrate round-tripping between C-CDA to FHIR then back to C-CDA and, if possible, a "real" FHIR server/application to consumer. If you can help out with this or want more information, contact Dave Hamill at pmo@HL7.org.

**The Care Plan scenario file now includes a 4th assignment that will have implementers exercise the Health Status Evaluation and Outcomes section to hold assessment information covering the sexy topics of eLTSS and Social Determinants of Health!

I am pleased to announce the upcoming HL7 C-CDA Implementation-A-Thon on January 12-13 2018
The C-CDA IAT will be conducted as a track within the FHIR Connectathon held in San Antonio, TX, just prior to the HL7 Working Group and Payer Summit.

Registration Information and everything you need to know about C-CDA IAT can be found on Confluence: https://confluence.hl7.org/display/IAT/Implementation-A-Thons

Register TODAY! Be a part of an exciting new way to learn about and continuously improve adoption of C-CDA.

FHIR Connectathon includes an exciting new track!! The CCDA Implementation-A-Thon (C-CDA IAT) is now being held in conjunction with the FHIR Connectathon. The CCDA IAT helps implementers work to reduce inconsistencies in HL7 C-CDA® implementations across the healthcare industry. The track also includes collaboration aimed at clarifying C-CDA document creation questions and exploratory sessions designed to bring clarity for less defined or emerging data representation in C-CDA.

Registration for the C-CDA IAT Track allows participants to optimize their participation across CDA and FHIR related Tracks. You can participate in the structured CCDA IAT track activities that suit your needs and interests, or take time out to participate in other aspects of the FHIR Connectathon. With the FHIR Connectathon happening at the same time, CDA implementers gain the opportunity to test crossover functionality like the FHIR Conversion Challenge (C-CDA to C-CDA on FHIR bidirectional document conversion).

The CDA IAT Track agenda is broken out by 90 minute quarters. This will facilitate your ability to focus on just the CCDA topics of interest to you and your organization. Of course, if they are all of interest, you can participate in all eight quarters. In addition to the C-CDA on FHIR and attachments quarter, the CDA IAT Track will include quarters on Data Provenance, Care Plan Documents, USCDI (US Core Data for Interoperability) and will cover review of the the evolving ONC Scorecard Rubric. It also includes pre-Connectathon virtual working sessions to introduce each topic and focus participants on getting the most out of their hands-on time in January. This track is ideal for CDA Implementers interested in gaining exposure to FHIR and the possibilities for harnessing both. The timing also makes it ideal for gaining exposure to CDA and FHIR prior to attending the Payor Summit.

The C-CDA Implementation-A-Thon (C-CDA IAT) is now being held as a track within the FHIR Connectathon. The C-CDA IAT helps implementers work to reduce inconsistencies in HL7 C-CDA® implementations across the healthcare industry. The track includes:
• Collaboration activities aimed at clarifying C-CDA document creation and consumption questions
• Exploratory sessions designed to clarify less defined or emerging C-CDA data representation
• Experimentation with sharing C-CDA documents using FHIR APIs

Registration for the C-CDA IAT Track allows participants to optimize their participation across CDA and FHIR related tracks, following the structured C-CDA IAT track activities of interest or partaking in other aspects of the FHIR Connectathon. The C-CDA IAT Track agenda is organized by 90-minute quarters. Participants can spend eight quarters over two days in the C-CDA IAT Track, or use some quarters to learn more about FHIR. Implementers determine what areas the track will cover at each session.

The C-CDA IAT includes pre-Connectathon preparation working sessions to introduce each topic and focus participants on getting the most out of their hands-on face-to-face time. This track is ideal for C-CDA implementers interested in gaining exposure to FHIR and the possibilities for harnessing both HL7 standards to meet emerging business use cases for information exchange. The timing also makes it ideal for gaining exposure to C-CDA and FHIR prior to attending the Payer Summit.
